OLDS — Midnight Madness, the annual Uptowne Olds promotion, will happen on Nov. 20, but there are changes, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participating stores in Uptowne Olds will be offering specials from 6 p.m. until midnight.

Due to pandemic protocols, there will be no hotdogs this year, Leon Durand, a member of the Uptowne Olds committee, said during an interview.

In the past, there have been carollers, but Durand said that’s not expected to occur this year either.

Durand said customers are encouraged to wear masks.

“It won’t be mandatory, but I know my staff will all be wearing masks and many of the people in the stores will be wearing masks but it’s going to be up to individual stores," he said.

“Everybody will be running promotions. Of course, we’d like to see support from the locals because of course, stores took a beating this year (due to COVID), Durand said.

“So get out there and support these stores.

“Midnight Madness is our biggest promotion of the year and we’d appreciate the consumers in the Olds area that come and support the stores that have been supporting them for all these years.”
