As a way to give back to the community, the Olds College Residence Life Department at College Housing Olds Co. created a challenge for the entire Olds College community.

The challenge was to help local families in need by donating new or gently used winter outerwear.

Olds College departments set up Christmas trees in their buildings and decked them with scarves, mittens, toques and other items for the cause.

The kindness and generosity of staff and students was overwhelming, with nearly 500 items collected.

Continuing with the giving spirit, the Land Sciences staff and students who collected the most items were awarded a $50 donation in their name to the Olds College Students' Emergency Bursary Fund.

All items were donated to Coats for Everyone, a local charity organized by Hope Pointe Church (a Church of the Nazarene congregation).

The donation was dropped off to the church on Tuesday, Dec. 22, just in time for Christmas.

ìAn enormous thank you to all that participated in this very worthwhile cause,î says College Housing Olds Co. residence life co-ordinator Emily Giugovaz.
