Co-operation agreement between town and county unveiled next month

Town of Olds and Mountain View County officials have hammered out an inter-municipal agreement to ensure issues like growth and the delivery of programs and services are done efficiently and effectively for residents of both communities.

During the next 18 months, representatives of the two communities will draw up sub-agreements on how specific services will be dealt with.

The Inter-Municipal Co-operation Agreement will be presented at a town council meeting on Monday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. A special joint council meeting and signing ceremony is slated for Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Mountain View County office.

“The town and county have undertaken an extensive facilitated collaboration initiative to provide quality of life to their ratepayers by ensuring that growth management, planning, programs and services are effectively, efficiently and economically delivered and are reasonably available to residents,” a news release says.

“Both municipalities have a significant role to play in the success of our shared region and will ultimately share both the risks and rewards of their co-operative efforts.”
