The Hope Pointe Community Church (the Church of the Nazarene congregation) hopes to have hail damage repairs to its church completed by Nov. 30.

Pastor Darlene Hyatt says the church's insurance company is currently choosing contractors for the work.

The building, located at 5402 43 St., was pounded during the hailstorm that hit Olds on July 28.

"Basically, a lot of the (hail) went all through the roof, so we need a new roof. And then the rainwater went in, so it flooded all of the main areas, except the sanctuary," Hyatt says.

Meanwhile, the congregation is meeting at the United Church.

Hyatt notes the damage has not only been inconvenient for her and the congregation, but also for the many community groups who utilize the building for events, meetings, etc.

"That all had to be rescheduled," Hyatt says. "But everybody's been very supportive and other congregations have stepped forward (to help)."

Meanwhile, Hyatt and her flock are accepting the situation fairly well.

"I mean, you know, it's always different to not have your regular time and access," she says.

"We're practising being patient; it's good," Hyatt adds with a laugh. "I mean, I think the thing is, there's no point ñ things we can't change are things we can't change. So we decide to just take it day by day."
