Olds RCMP say charges are anticipated in regard to a two-vehicle accident that blocked Highway 27 between Olds and the Highway 2 overpass the night of Sept. 1.

Although an unusually large number of sirens could be heard as emergency crews raced to the scene, Cpl. Mike Black said only minor injuries were suffered.

When contacted Friday morning, he said one person was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.

“It may have been dispatched as two-vehicle head-on so people get pretty excited, depending on what happens, right,” he said.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Highway 27 near Rge. Rd. 13 at about 8:25 p.m.

Black said a van collided with a truck pulling a holiday trailer.

He said initial investigation indicates the van may have crossed the centre line.

“There are charges anticipated against one of the drivers,” Black said, adding the paperwork detailing those charges had not yet been completed.
