A Calgary man is due in court May 18 facing a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after a vehicle cut through a couple of vehicles at what police describe as “a high rate of speed” near Bowden.

“A group of car enthusiasts were travelling north when another vehicle approached the group travelling at high rate of speed and passed through the middle of two vehicles, nearly hitting them. The vehicle then passed another member of the group on the shoulder of the road before speeding away,” an RCMP news release says.

Police say the incident occurred April 10 at about 11:20 a.m. on Highway 2 near Bowden.

RCMP received a complaint about the incident and found the suspect vehicle in Sylvan Lake shortly afterward.

At that time, the driver was identified and questioned, but not arrested. Later, Kunal Anand, 20, of Calgary was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He is due in Red Deer provincial court on May 18.
