Olds RCMP are investigating a break-in, a hit and run and damage to a lockbox that occurred in the area.

The most recent incident is the hit and run, which police say occurred on Dec. 7 at 42nd Street and 56th Avenue.

Cpl. Mike Black says a vehicle hit a power box at about 9:40 a.m. that day.

“It looks like the vehicle backed up, smashed into this power box and then took off,” he says. “We're looking for a white van with rear bumper damage.”

They have part of the licence plate number for the suspect vehicle. The last four digits are 1587.

Police are urging the public to come forward if they have any information on this incident.

The break-in occurred some time between Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 at a home in Olds.

Black says the suspect(s) came in through an unlocked kitchen window.

They stole a pair of blue Black Diamond skis, a Panasonic GX5 camera with a black case and a pair of Black Diamond prime ski boots.

Black says if anyone recently bought these items or knows of someone selling them, “they'd best come and see us.”

On Dec. 2 at 11:05 a.m., mischief was reported at the ATB Financial building in Bowden.

“A male was observed on surveillance kicking over a lockbox. He attempted to try and get some – whatever – we don't even know what was in there,” Black says. “The suspect may be known here.”

He says the suspect inflicted about $150 damage on the lockbox.

As of late last week, the matter was still under investigation.
