There were a few scary moments at the start of the Summer Oldstice in uptowne Olds on June 21 when an eight-year-old boy from Olds was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle.Police said the boy, who had helped out with the Oldstice setup that morning, was riding his bicycle north along the west crosswalk at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 50 Street at about 11 a.m. when a northbound Ford F-150 that was turning west onto 50 Street struck him in the crosswalk.The boy, who was not seriously injured, was taken to hospital following the collision, police said, and charges are not being considered in the matter.The incident happened before a crowd of vendors and people attending Oldstice celebrations and, while police, firefighters and paramedics attended to the boy, members of the Olds Search and Rescue squad directed traffic at the [email protected]
