The St. Andrew's Players are in final rehearsals for this year's play: Adam's Eve, which will be staged May 5-7 at the Lions Hall.

Friday and Saturday night (May 5 and 6) are dinner theatres. Doors open at 5 p.m.; supper begins at 6 p.m.

This year, for the first time, a dessert matinee will be offered. It begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 7.

Director Mabel Hamilton says the St. Andrew's Players have been performing plays each year in May for about 13 years.

"We take the money that we raise and put (it) towards a cause in the community and this year it happens to be towards our new hall that we are hoping to construct," she says.

Plans call for the new community hall to be built on 3.2 acres of land at the north end of Bowden along Highway 2A (27th Avenue) and 22nd Street. It's projected to cost about $1.7 million to construct. Fundraising for the project has been underway for more than a year.

Hamilton describes Adam's Eve as "a comedy with an intriguing twist regarding Adam and Eve."

About 15 volunteers are involved in staging the play, including nine actors.

They started working on the play in January. Rehearsals have been taking place twice a week since mid-March.
