On Monday, June 27, Red Deer County fire officials began investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a farmhouse east of Bowden.

Firefighters were called to the scene – on Rge. Rd. 281, south of Highway 587, at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters were still on-scene after midnight.

Red Deer County fire Chief Dave Laurin says close to 20 firefighters from the Bowden, Olds and Innisfail fire departments responded.

No one was injured. Laurin says the farmhouse was totally destroyed. However, he says it was the only structure that burned.

He says the fire was under control in about three hours.

“There were a lot of hot spots because the roof fell down on itself and it was a tin roof,” he says.
