Another car wash approved

The Municipal Planning Commision (MPC) has approved a proposal to add a car wash facility to a development planned for the intersection of Highways 2A and 27.

The Municipal Planning Commision (MPC) has approved a proposal to add a car wash facility to a development planned for the intersection of Highways 2A and 27.

The car wash will be added on to a convenience store planned for the site, development officer Carey Keleman said during MPC's Aug. 18 meeting.

As was reported earlier, the project also calls for development of a gas bar and two commercial buildings featuring a total of eight bays.

The request to add the car wash came to the MPC because the land in question is in the town's CHA (Commercial Highway A) land use district and car washes there are listed as a discretionary use. Proposals listed in that manner have to go to MPC for approval.

Notices of the request to add a gas bar to the proposed development went to four landowners in the area “but we received no comments,” Keleman said.

As a result, she said, town staff recommended approving the request. MPC members agreed and voted to do so.
