An interim replacement for former Olds College vice president of advancement has been chosen.

Tanya McDonald, formerly the college's aassociate vice president of research and learning enterprises, is now the acting vice president advancement. She starts her new job on Jan. 4.

She replaces Jordan Cleland who says he resigned the post of vice president advancement effective Dec. 22, after eight-and-a-half years in that post, which is charged with raising money for the college.

Cleland said he plans to remain in Olds but run his own business, starting in the new year. He plans to be a communications, public affairs and strategic advisor.

McDonald's boss, OC president Tom Thompson, describes McDonald as ìexperienced and highly dynamic.î

ìTanya represents an incredible career path of success and diversity at our college,î Thompson says in a news release.

He notes she her career there as a research scientist with the Olds College Centre for Innovation.

About 10 years later, Thompson says, McDonald's ìcontributions and leadership capacity were recognizedî when she was promoted to dean of agriculture.

Two years later, she was promoted again to associate vice president, research and learning enterprises.

ìIn this role, Tanya has almost exclusively operated in an environment where she, and the teams she has lead, had to attract partnerships and investment from industry stakeholders, be accountable to revenue targets, and continually communicate the value proposition of Olds College to government granting bodies,î Thompson says.

McDonald has a Bachelor of Science degree from Athabasca University and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering.
