An exhibition of art created by First Nations artists is now on display at the Olds Municipal Library.

The wall art ñ essentially 16 paintings of various kinds ñ went up around the library on June 21 as part of National Aboriginal Day and Aboriginal Awareness Week celebrations and they will remain on display there until July 19.

The exhibition is called Dreaming With My Great Mother and features works by three First Nations artists ñ Camille Louis, Heather Shillinglaw and Carla Rae Taylor.

It was provided to the library via the Alberta Foundation for the Arts travelling Exhibition Program (Region 3 TREX Southwest).

ìWith canvases activated by animal spirits, symbols and nature-based imagery, the artists featured in this exhibition wish to provide a window into the relationships they have with the Great Mother and hope to create a moment of engagement for the viewer to understand and learn,î a news release from Region 3 TREX Southwest says.

Olds Municipal Library manager Lesley Sackett Winfield says people viewing the exhibition have been making ìlots of great commentsî about the artwork.
