52 Avenue replaced as uptowne exit

It's always been a confusing intersection,” said Doug Wagstaff, the town's director of community services.“The town had made it so it was a right turn only. There were still some issues there with sightlines, traffic flows, so the decision was made just to close it right off.”Wagstaff said the decision to close the intersection was made in June.Since then, a cement block has been erected to close the right-turn exit onto Highway 27. Three additional blocks were placed south of the existing ones.That intersection was also made redundant by the opening of 51 Street to Highway 27.Wagstaff said that decision was made because previously, there had been no access out of the uptowne area besides travelling west on 50 Street to the legion, located near 54 Avenue.“So when 51st (Avenue) opened up, we closed 52nd (Avenue). It was open for a few months there. After the winter, we closed it off,” he said.Wagstaff said that the town has no plans for the road until the nearby area, which includes the new Cam Clark Ford dealership, is fully [email protected]
