Tractor rodeo enjoyed by large crowd

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - The fifth annual tractor rodeo at the Big Red Barn Heritage Centre outside Cremona recently attracted a large and appreciative crowd, with competitors showing off their vintage machinery, driving and operating skills in various categories.

The event was sponsored by the Mountain View Tractor Rodeo Society.

“We had a great turnout,” said co-organizer and society member Greg Harris. “We are always looking to expand our competitors and volunteers.”

The winners were as follows:

• Obstacle course - Rick Wilson from Carstairs.

• Pole bending - Kevin Kellar from Red Deer County

• Ladies barrel racing - Mercedes Quantz from Mountain View County

• Chain challenge - Richard Ross from Mountain View County

• Manure mayhem - Ron Kellar from Torrington

• Auger amusement - Mark Kinzel

• Dunk the chicken - Team of Rick Wilson of Carstairs and Kevin Kellar of Red Deer County

• Show and shine - Richard Ross in a 1952 IHC “C”.
