Sundre RCMP, Major Crimes investigate suspicious death after man shot

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is treating the death of man shot northwest of Sundre as suspicious

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Sundre RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are investigating after a man was shot northwest of Sundre Thursday and died.

Sundre RCMP were dispatched at approximately 12:17 p.m. on Jan. 25 after receiving a report of a man that had been shot in Mountain View County.

"Officers attended and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene and the male was transported to local hospital where he was pronounced deceased," police said in a release issued Thursday night.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation and is treating the death as suspicious, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place at the Calgary Medical Examiners office today.

An update will be provided when results of the autopsy are known, police said.
