Water polo season has come upon us once again. The Innisfail Hurricanes is gearing up for another exciting season in the water.

The Hurricanes has been in Innisfail since 2008 and the club is only getting stronger and more competitive. We are very excited to introduce our new head coach, Mark Linski. He has coached many athletic teams and programs; he is ready for a new challenge with Water Polo!

We are also very excited to have a previous Innisfail Hurricanes water polo athlete, Quinn Layden, assist with some practices throughout this new season. Quinn belonged to the Innisfail Hurricanes for three seasons. He loved the game and decided he needed a more competitive aspect. Quinn joined the Calgary Torpedoes Water Polo Club in 2012 and is excited to share some of the phenomenal techniques he acquired while competing with the Torpedoes.

Hard work, commitment and dedication led Quinn and the Torpedoes to 5 major competitions this past season winning Gold at U16 Nationals held in Montreal, winning Gold at U18 Nationals held in Calgary, winning Gold at Alberta Open for both U16 and Gold U18 held in Calgary and winning Bronze at NDPL (National Development Premier League) held in Vancouver. With Quinn's impressive, skill, strength, dedication and commitment to the sport he was presented with “Most Improved Player” for the Torpedoes at the year-end wind up in June.

“My water polo coaches in Calgary were amazing, I had incredible travel experiences and the mentorship was awesome. It has inspired me to mentor and give back to water polo,” said Quinn.

This will be a very exciting year for the Hurricanes as they are looking to take this club to the next level, with our head coach in place and some mentorship from Quinn this season is sure to be the best season yet!

If your child is looking for a new challenge, a new sport, a new team, the Innisfail Hurricanes is excited to welcome all new and past athletes. We took registration for our 2013 – 2014 at the Fall Registration Night at the Innisfail Arena on Sept. 3, and we will continue to accept registration throughout the month.
