Becca Konschuh and her teammates Jocelyn Peterman, Brittany Tran, and Kristine Anderson travelled to Halifax February 10th to compete in the Canada Winter Games and their goal- to bring home a medal.

That is exactly what they did. The girls had a strong round robin defeating Quebec 10-5, Yukon 5-3, PEI 8-4, Newfoundland 9-2 and their only loss was to team Ontario 5-3.

With a win from Quebec over Team Yukon on the final day of round robin play Team Alberta solidified second place in their pool and earned a berth into the medal round.

There was a crossover between Pool A and Pool B and Team Alberta was to face hometown favorite Nova Scotia in a semi-final. The score was 3-1 after the 4th end, both teams playing very well, but in the 5th and Jocelyn Peterman, Team Alberta's skip, makes a great take out to score 4 and the girls go up 5-3.

You could see the momentum change, holding Nova Scotia to 1 in 6 and then taking another 3 in 7. The girl's strong performance insured them a medal as they headed to the final against B.C.

The final game did not see many rocks in play as B.C. chose to play a take out game making it very difficult for Team Alberta to generate any offense. The final score was B.C. 3 Alberta 1 and the girls were presented their silver medals, by 5 times Scotties Champion Colleen Jones.

This national competition is definitely the highlight of these young ladies curling career thus far, but the privilege of being part of Team Alberta, cheering on their fellow athletes, making new friends and having treasured memories that will last them a lifetime is maybe the greater component of this incredible experience.

Becca would like to recognize all her Sundre supporters that wished her well and watched her team's progress over the course of the week.
