The Olds College Broncos women’s hockey team was shut out 3-0 by the MacEwan Griffins Nov. 28 at the Olds Sportsplex.

It was the team’s last home game of 2019 and was dubbed the “Christmas celebration.”

The Griffins opened the scoring at 3:44 of the first period, then padded their lead at 8:37.

They dominated in that first period, outshooting the Broncos 11-2.

The second period didn’t get off to a great start either, as Bronco Sarah Jarvis received a slashing penalty just 44 seconds into the period, but her teammates managed to weather that storm.

The Griffins scored their final goal at 8:39 of that middle frame.

Total shots at the end of the second period were 17-7 for the Griffins and 30-9 by the end of the game.

The Pit Barbecue Player of the game for the Broncos was Sarah Jarvis and the player of the game for the MacEwan Griffins was Jaime Erickson.

The Broncos will be back again in the new year to take on the SAIT Trojans on Thursday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex.
