Mountain View County's municipal planning commission has approved a development permit to allow for the relocation of an established West Country kennel.TWQ Kennels & Spa, currently located four kilometres west of Sundre, will move eight kilometres southwest to a six-acre parcel at Rge. Rd. 62 and Twp. Rd. 322 in the Bergen area. The by-appointment-only kennel facility will house a maximum of 30 dogs and nine cats, development officer Jessica Ross told MPC on July 7. There will be 18 indoor-outdoor kennels on the site, each eight by four feet, and 30 vehicles a week is the projected traffic volume, she said.Since Twp. Rd. 322 is a chipseal road, no dust issues are expected.MPC received one letter of objection to the proposal, with traffic, impact on agriculture, barking and property value loss given as concerns. No complaints have been received about the current operation west of Sundre, Ross said.Approval was granted with standard and 14 additional conditions related to kennel operations.Owner Tamara Beecraft said she hopes to be operating out of the new site in September.
