OLDS - Snowfall is expected to taper off Tuesday morning only to resume again overnight, according to Environment Canada.
A special weather statement issued yesterday remains in place Tuesday, April 30 for the Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre area warning that significant snowfall is expected this week.
"Snow over southwestern Alberta will taper off later this morning. Heavy snow is expected to begin this evening along the foothills then spread to the east and continue through Wednesday," Environment Canada's Tuesday morning update for the area said.
Total amounts of 10 to 25 centimetres are possible by Thursday morning.
"The highest amounts will fall west of Highway 2. The snow will be heavy and wet, and will be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall accumulations will vary widely," the Tuesday statement said.
No special weather statement has been issued for the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area.
Meanwhile, a snowfall warning is in effect for Kananaskis, Okotoks, and surrounding area.
