DIDSBURY - Didsbury could use a town-owned dog park, local canine owners say.

Town officials, however, say that a new dog park facility is some time away.

"Over the past few years, the Town of Didsbury has heard from a number of residents and dog owners that an off-leash dog park area is important to them," said Christofer Atchison, manager of legislation and development services.

Atchison said that a new and improved dog park is some years away but it is in the town's long-term plans.

"A new facility has been discussed and noted in the 2017-27 strategic plan with the intention to undertake some research and have a location chose," he said.

"Once that is completed, a better idea on the proposed budget along with the proposed funding would be available."

In addition to the dog park near the vet clinic, Didsbury dog owners can also walk their dogs on leash at multiple locations in town including the popular Memorial Park trail system.
