In his monthly report to the committee at its recent regularly scheduled meeting, director of operations Ron Baker outlined a number of projects completed this year and a number of other projects still underway.

The county's re-gravelling program saw 650 kilometres of roads impacted, at a total cost as of Oct. 31 of $2,033,572.

The annual re-chipping program saw 109 kilometres of road impacted, including 12 kilometres of double chip, at a cost of $1,453,436.

The base stabilization program is completed for 2017. "County crews completed re-basing (and chip-sealing) three miles of the Big Prairie Road, two miles of Range Road 284 south of the Wimborne Road, and one mile of Township Road 334 between the Campbell Bridge and Highway 766,"he said.

"The crew completed the base stabilization "rips" one mile east of Carstairs on Township Road 302, 1,200 metres on the Bergen Road (Township Road 320 east of Range Road 22) and Range Road 53 (Fallen Timber Trail) one mile north of Township Road 312."

All new equipment purchases were completed at a total cost of $2,321,172.

A re-chipping program at Osadchuk Heights was completed at a cost of $149,936.

Work on the new east side shop is underway, with building construction expected to be completed in February. To date, $71,263 has been spent out of the $950,000 budget.

Engineering of a new bridge and road north of Water Valley is underway, with $145,947 being spent to date.

A project to create a plan to protect Rge. Rd. 55, Rge. Rd. 60 and the Sundre Airport got underway this year and is continuing into 2018. The project is currently being reviewed by Alberta Environment.
