Fatal crash leads to prison

A 32-year-old man charged following a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 27 east of Sundre two years ago has been handed a prison sentence. Sean Terrence Letwin pleaded guilty earlier to a charge of impaired driving causing death.

A 32-year-old man charged following a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 27 east of Sundre two years ago has been handed a prison sentence.

Sean Terrence Letwin pleaded guilty earlier to a charge of impaired driving causing death.

He was sentenced to 30 months in prison by Justice John Rooke in Calgary Court of Queen’s Bench on May 23.

Henryk Yonza, 41, was riding his motorcycle near Harmattan on April 29, 2016 when Letwin drove into his lane, causing a head-on collision. Yonza died following the collision.

Letwin, from B.C., was also handed a five-year driving prohibition.
