CREMONA - At its regular council meeting on May 15, Cremona council passed a motion to approve the village's participation in the Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (ISDAB).

Cremona joins Didsbury and Carstairs, which have already approved the ISDAB agreement.

The purpose of ISDAB is for hearing appeals of decisions made by the development authority and subdivision authority pertaining to applications relating to lands located within each municipality.

Cremona has a similar bylaw with Mountain View County relating to appeals in the fringe area of the Intermunicipal Development Plan.

In other council news, council approved an amendment to the Return to Service Protocol Depressurized Main Policy. The policy was originally approved by council at the April 27 regular meeting but was returned by Alberta Environment with some slight changes.

Council also approved the Subdivision Authority Bylaw, which provides for the establishment of Subdivision Authority in the Village of Cremona. The new bylaw replaces the old one and removes two clauses that are no longer relevant.

Also, CAO Luana Smith met with village planner Ori Abara with Urban Systems Alberta Transportation on May 3 to discuss the issues surrounding a proposed subdivision on the south side of Highway 580.

Council carried a motion to combine lots 12 and 13 into one lot for direct control and have Urban Systems resize the other lots as per council's recommendation.

Council received a presentation from Sam Smalldon, CAO, and Bruce Beattle, board chair, both from Mountain View Seniors' Housing, updating it on the status of seniors' housing in the region.

Administration presented council with options for doing smaller projects such as replacing sidewalks using 2018 Municipal Sustainability Initiative funds.
