CREMONA - The Cremona senior girls' varsity volleyball team wrapped up their season with an appearance at the Alberta High School Single A Provincial Championships in Bonnyville at the end of November. Although they didn't medal, the team competed hard.
"Our team did well but just missed out on making the playoffs," said athletic director Tyson Youngs. "The team suffered a couple of injuries during the round-robin play, but they still fought hard coming up just short of a playoff position. In the end, they all reported having a great time and we look forward to another successful season next year."
The Cougars qualified for provincials by capturing the gold medal at the Single A South Central Zone Championship beating Bassano in the final. The team had a great season also winning gold at the Three Hills Invitational, St. Anthony's Academy tournament, Duchess Eagles Invitational, Banff Bears tournament and Trochu Valley tournament.
