Colby re-elected as mayor; Wilcox joins five incumbents on council

CARSTAIRS - The Town of Carstairs council will look very familiar with the incumbent mayor and five incumbent councillors elected, according to unofficial results released Monday night.

CARSTAIRS - The Town of Carstairs council will look very familiar with the incumbent mayor and five incumbent councillors elected, according to unofficial results released Monday night.

Joining the six will be newcomer Shannon Wilcox, who tied for third most votes with Marty Ratz.

Lance Colby will return as mayor after picking up 559 votes. Challenger Cameron Tolley received 232 votes.

Dean Allan was the top vote getter among councillor candidates with 851 votes. Rick Blair was next with 767, followed by Wilcox and Ratz with 701 each.

Bob Green picked up 660 votes, while Al Gil got 625 votes.

Not elected was Rhonda Kraemer-Wise with 345 votes.

There were 1,044 ballots with eight spoiled. The number of voters was up by a couple of hundred from the previous election in 2013.

The new council will be sworn in at the regular council meeting on Oct. 23.
