COVID-19

The Alberta government reported on Saturday there are 97 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of people infected so far to 5,670. Two more Albertans have died, bringing the death toll to 94.

The province's news release included that 2,534 people have now recovered from the virus.

Most of the province's cases continue to be in the Calgary zone (3,775 cases) and the south zone (1,054 cases). The Edmonton zone has had 501 cases.

There are 88 people currently in hospital and 19 of them are in intensive care.

Alberta's tiered relaunch strategy began on Friday with the opening of some boat launches, and vehicle access to parking lots and staging areas in parks and on public lands. Golf courses opened today (Saturday).

The government wants to remind Albertans that non-essential travel is still not recommended, including travel within Alberta.
