INNISFAIL – Assault and break and enter charges have been laid against a Yukon man following a violent incident inside Innisfail’s Sunset Manor that resulted in an assault on a nurse and destruction of property.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a media release issued Tuesday that at 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 10 Innisfail RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at Sunset Manor, a supportive living facility located on the east side of town.

Savinkoff said a male suspect broke into Sunset Manor by shattering the front glass door.

“Once inside, the male suspect assaulted a nurse and caused significant damage to the facility, including destroying furniture, electronics and Christmas decorations,” said Savinkoff.

He said when RCMP arrived at the facility the suspect was located and arrested.

It is not known at this time the condition of the nurse who was assaulted, and the estimated dollar value of the damage that was done to Sunset Manor property.

Kale Michon, 22, a resident of Dawson City, Yukon, has been charged with: assault; break and enter; and mischief over $5,000.

Michon was taken before a justice of the peace and released with his next court date set for Jan. 12 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
