Penhold's 2014 Fall Festival is going to be a celebration to remember.

With events running from September 12 to 14 at the Penhold Regional Mulitplex, there will be something for everyone. The festivities will include skating, hockey, laser tag, concerts, community meals, the annual Penhold parade, and fireworks on Saturday night.

“We are very excited about this year's fall festival,” said Julie Dallaire, community services manager. “There will be something for everybody this year, from toddlers to seniors.”

The event kicks off with a “burger bash” at the Penhold Crossing Secondary School parking lot from 1 to 3 p.m. and an “all you can ride” Friday night for the fair rides, and laser tag. A “battle of the bands” will be held in the Penhold Regional Multiplex gymnasium, which will start at 6:30 p.m.

Shane Chisholm, four-time Canadian Country Music Award winner, will perform songs from his three albums, which include Kickin' Up Dust from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Chisholm brings his unique collection of handmade instruments to Penhold, which includes a Stanley Cup bass lookalike made from pots and pans.

“On Saturday, we will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Memorial Hall which will be followed by the parade,” said Dallaire. “This year, the route includes Robinson Avenue and Hawkridge Boulevard. In the afternoon, we will continue our outdoor fair, and the mainstage will feature entertainment from the community. There will be a kid corner in the gymnasium, a children's hockey clinic, a tailgate party/barbecue, and we will end up with a bang at 8:30 p.m. with a fireworks display.”

The final event of the weekend will be a free family skate in the multiplex from 1 to 3 p.m.

Admission to the individual events varies from free to $20 for “all you can ride” on Friday and Saturday, with meals costing $5.

Last year's event drew more than 700 people but organizers are expecting a larger turnout this year with the expanded program.
