INNISFAIL – Two men, one from Sundre and the other from Olds, have been charged following a break-in at an oil lease site in Red Deer County on Saturday morning.

Two individuals wearing masks broke into the site and a sea-can storage unit at the location, stealing undisclosed items, say police.

The suspects fled in a blue Chrysler 200 automobile.

A bystander observed the suspects and “continued to provide detailed updates to police which assisted them in locating the Chrysler rather quickly,” Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler said in a release issued today.

When police attempted to pull the vehicle over it sped away at a high rate of speed, she said.

Police then deployed a tire deflation device, which flattened some times and caused the vehicle to stop.

Both occupants were then arrested without incident.

The bystander was instrumental in the suspects being caught, she said.

Jason Burns, 27, of Sundre faces seven charges: break and enter, disguise with intent, flight from police, possession of break-in tools, failing to comply with a release order, drive without a valid licence, and drive with a plate not attached.

Stacy Gow, 46, of Olds has been charged with break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of break-in tools, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Both men have been released pending June 10 court appearances in Red Deer.
