Rehearsals are well underway for Innisfail Town Theatre's (ITT) spring production, Saving Grace.

The story centres on Grace, a sheltered young woman who recently moved to New York City and is now working at an insurance agency.

She's unlucky in love, and when her boss gives her a ride home he tries to capture her heart. Unfortunately, he's just as unlucky.

The five-character play also includes Grace's sister, a telephone repairman and a Russian evangelist. A case of mistaken identity and several misunderstandings cause much confusion and many hilarious antics on stage.

Ralph Troschke is the director of this zany comedy. Theatre patrons will remember him in the role of Eddie Nighthawk Nichols, the DJ in the previous ITT production, Bedtime Stories.

He comes to ITT with a wide range of theatrical experience, having acted in 18 plays and having directed another seven. He has worked with the Harbour Theatre in Prince Rupert, B.C.; the Bulkley Players in Smithers, B.C.; The Brit Club in Abu Dhabi, United Emirates; Keyano Theatre in Fort McMurray; and Lakeland College Theatre in Vermillion.

Interestingly, it is this play, Saving Grace, that sparked his interest in the world of theatre. He saw the production 25 years ago and decided that he too wanted to be on stage. He has been involved in theatre ever since.

Troschke said he has really enjoyed working with the cast and crew of this production. He has found the cast to be a lot of fun and has been impressed with the number of people who just automatically step forward to do all the jobs necessary to bring a play to the stage.

The play opens at the Ol' Moose Hall on March 12 and runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through March 28.

There will be one dessert theatre performance, which will take place on opening night and one general, or ìshow onlyî performance, which will take place on March 19. The rest of the shows will be dinner theatre performances.

Tickets are on sale now at the Leg Man, located at 5036 - 50 St. in Innisfail, or can be obtained by calling 403-227-5966.

Prices are $25 for the general show, $30 for the dessert theatre and $45 for the dinner theatre performances.

Doors open at 6 p.m. each night with the general theatre and dessert theatre performances starting at 7 p.m. On dinner theatre nights, dinner will be served shortly after the doors open and the play will begin at 7:30 p.m.
