Polling station information is now available for voters in the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake riding who will be heading to the polls on April 23.

Local polling places will be held at Aberdeen Hall, Balmoral Hall, Bowden Hall, Central Park Hall, Cottonwood Gordon Hall, Crossroads Church, Delburne Community Hall, Elnora Community Hall, Innisfail Legion, Nazarene Church, Nisbet Hall, Penhold Multiplex, Pine Lake Hub Community Centre, Poplar Ridge Community Hall, Ridgewood Community Centre, Springbrook Fire Hall, Spruce View Community Hall, Sylvan Lake Alliance Church, Sylvan Lake Family and Community Centre and Willowdale Community Centre.

Polling stations can be confirmed online at www.elections.ab.ca. The polls will be open on April 23 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Advance voting will be taking place from April 19 to 21 fro 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. The open polls will be at Delburne Seniors Drop In Centre, Sylvan Lake Family and Community Centre and the returning officer's office at the old Crossroads Gas Co-op in Innisfail.

Special ballot applications for those who cannot attend the polls on April 23 or during the advance polling period can be made to the returning officer, Carla Gabert. The returning officer office phone number is 403-227-0121.

The final candidate list will be announced this week as formal nominations were due April 9. As of April 5, five candidates had already filed their papers; Danielle Klooster for the Alberta Party, Patricia Norman for the Alberta New Democrats Party, incumbent MLA Luke Ouellette for the Progressive Conservatives, Kerry Towle for the Wildrose Party and Les Vidok for the Alberta Liberal Party.

Albertans also have the chance to nominate a federal senator for future consideration for Canada's red chamber. As of April 5, four candidates had been nominated: Raymond Germain, Rob Gregory and Vitor Marciano, all for the Wildrose, and Mike Shaikh for the Progressive Conservatives.
