Innisfail RCMP is searching for a marauding young criminal who went on an overnight mischief-breaking spree on more than 20 motor vehicles earlier this month in Penhold.

Innisfail RCMP Const. Cindie Dennis said the spree began at midnight on Jan. 3 and continued into the early morning hours throughout the town of Penhold.

Dennis said none of the vehicles were broken into. She said it was mischief dealing with side mirrors and windshields.

Dennis said the estimated damage from the spree is between $16,000 and $20,000.

She said the damage to the vehicles occurred in all parts of the town, including incidents on Lucina Street, Heritage Drive, Hawkridge Boulevard, Lincoln Street, Mann Drive, Dundee Crescent, Newton Drive, Robinson Avenue, Harvest Close, and Minto Street.

Dennis said the police received a break in the case when a witness forwarded a video.

ìThere is a possible suspect. The video that a witness has come forward with shows a young person in a small red vehicle with something that is described as a club,î said Dennis. ìThat could be anything. That could be a baseball bat, we don't know.î

Meanwhile, RCMP is investigating separate incidents of theft and mischief that occurred recently in Innisfail.

During the early morning hours of Jan. 5, a vehicle parked on 47 Street was damaged. Dennis said the damage was to a front mirror.

On the same night a motor vehicle on 36A Street was broken into, said Dennis. She said the thief stole a set of farrier tools that are used by specialists in equine hoof care.
