INNISFAIL — Mounties are continuing their extensive search for a bandit wanted for two armed robberies of a local Fas Gas and an attempted one in a residential area during a 46-hour crime spree.

On Sunday (Aug. 29), RCMP said in a news release that police received a 911 call at about 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 28 that an armed robbery was being attempted at a residential block in Innisfail.

The RCMP said a description that was provided of the lone male suspect resembled that of the culprit from two prior robberies at Innisfail’s Fas Gas located at 5107 - 50th Street.

RCMP Police Dog Services, the Emergency Response Team and the Innisfail RCMP have made extensive patrols and have not located the suspect.

No one was physically hurt in any of the three incidents.

The first Fas Gas armed robbery was at about 11:23 p.m. on Aug. 26. Innisfail RCMP attended the scene with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and determined a lone male suspect wearing a white face covering entered the convenience store while armed with a weapon.

RCMP said there was one employee and a customer in the store at the time of the robbery. The male suspect demanded money from the customer and the employee before fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Extensive patrols were made by Innisfail RCMP but the suspect was not located.

The second Fas Gas robbery was called in to RCMP via 911 at about 1:40 a.m. on Aug. 28.

Innisfail RCMP attended the scene and determined that a lone male suspect wearing a black face covering entered the convenience store while armed with a revolver-style hand gun.

RCMP said there was one employee in the store at the time of the robbery. The male suspect demanded money from the employee before fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, said RCMP.

Extensive patrols were made by police but the suspect was not located, said RCMP.

RCMP said the description of the culprit in both Fas Gas robberies is the same: male, tall, with medium build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black sweater, black shorts, black and white runners, gloves and glasses.

During both Fas Gas robberies the suspect was wearing similar shorts, and the same black Nike running shoes and ankle socks, said RCMP.

RCMP is encouraging anyone who might be able to help identify the suspect responsible to contact the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342, or their local police department.
