Innisfail RCMP were called out about 2 a.m. on June 22 to the scene of a hit and run. A verbal altercation took place between a group of pedestrians and the occupants of a sport utility vehicle in a parking lot near a bar. During the event the driver of the parked SUV quickly accelerated, completed a circle around the pedestrians and struck one of them before speeding from the scene.

Police and EMS arrived and found an injured male who was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police patrolling the area found the vehicle parked behind an Innisfail residence. They seized the vehicle and the suspected driver was located and arrested.

Three youths in the vehicle were all arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. They were released to attend scheduled appearances in Red Deer provincial court.

Vehicle theft and rollover

Innisfail RCMP is asking the public's assistance in identifying two young males involved in the rollover and theft of a vehicle.

On June 26 about 10:30 p.m. two young males between the ages of 14 and 18 were seen near Markerville, not far from a nearby vehicle accident. They were driven to the intersection of highways 781 and 592 and told to walk to Penhold. One male was wearing a tank top with jean shorts and the other was wearing a yellow checkered shirt and jeans. They were both covered in mud.

The car in the accident, a 2006 silver Acura, was reported stolen from Red Deer.
