Local boy killed in workplace accident, funeral to be held July 27

A tragic accident has claimed the life of 15-year-old Innisfail resident Christopher Lawrence. Lawrence was killed in a workplace accident at the Wintering Hills site near East Coulee in the early morning of July 19.

A tragic accident has claimed the life of 15-year-old Innisfail resident Christopher Lawrence.

Lawrence was killed in a workplace accident at the Wintering Hills site near East Coulee in the early morning of July 19. He had been working for Arjon Construction Ltd. as a labourer when his clothing got entangled in a conveyor belt on a gravel crusher.

“We are very distraught,” said his grandmother Doreen Mardian of Red Deer. “It has been a difficult time and we are trying to deal with his loss.”

Lawrence had been living in Innisfail and he was about to celebrate his 16th birthday on July 21st.

A celebration of his life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium in Red Deer on Sunday, July 27 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Red Deer & District SPCA on his behalf.
