INNISFAIL – RCMP have laid theft charges against a local citizen after executing a search warrant at a residence in Innisfail.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a news release issued today that on May 17 Innisfail Mounties received a complaint from FortisAlberta that there was theft of electricity at a local residence.

On May 18, RCMP executed a search warrant at the suspect property, said Savinkoff.

He said three people were arrested during the execution of the search warrant. Savinkoff said RCMP seized evidence used in the theft of electricity.

He said Jesse Burgoyne, 33, of Innisfail has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and theft of electricity.

Savinkoff said Burgoyne has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on June 29.
