INNISFAIL - The Birds of Innisfail are hockey champs.

The senior men’s AAA Innisfail Eagles claimed the President’s Cup by defeating the Stony Plains Eagles 9-3 at the Innisfail Twin Arena on Feb. 17.

It was the last game of the eight-game Chinook Hockey League regular season for both teams and Innisfail finished in first place to claim the cup.

The two teams will meet in early March for a best-of-five series to battle for the provincial championship.

The winner will go on to Ontario in April to compete in the Allan Cup national championship
