Good Food Club returns

More than 20 individuals from Innisfail and area community service groups gathered at the Innisfail Library Learning Centre and food was high on the agenda for the fall 2014 programming.

The Good Food Club presented information about its efforts on Oct. 14 to re-establish itself in Innisfail through Alberta Health Services of Olds. The club first appeared in town two years ago after launching in both Olds and Innisfail.

“The Good Food Club boxes includes fruits, vegetables, meat and recipes for a reasonable cost,” said Tanessa Waye, a registered dietician with AHS. “Innisfail had around 20 families using the service but we lost our central pickup point and want to find a way to bring it back to the people of Innisfail.”

She added the boxes cost $10 or $20 and food is purchased at wholesale from suppliers. A driver picks up the boxes from Olds, and then delivers them to a central location.

“Anyone wanting to be part of the program, either volunteer or client, can call me up at 403-559-2155,” said Waye. “We look forward to being part of the Innisfail community again.”
