INNISFAIL - A fog advisory that covered a large portion of Alberta Wednesday was largely lifted Thursday morning but is still in effect for three regions including in the Innisfail area.
Environment Canada updated its weather alert just after 4 a.m. Thursday.
The advisory is now only in place for the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail – Stettler area as well as the Drumheller - Three Hills area in central Alberta and the Brooks - Strathmore – Vulcan area in the south.
At the time the advisory was updated Thursday, Environment Canada noted dense fog patches were leading to near zero visibility over some areas.
“Improvement in visibility is likely by Thursday afternoon, although fog will re-develop tonight in some areas,” the advisory said, adding “Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.”
If travelling in the affected areas, the federal agency advises drivers to be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility.
“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
