The Innisfail and District Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a celebration filled season.

Two major events culminating in the first Christmas luncheon will be held.

The chamber is promoting A Very Beary Country Christmas to encourage Innisfail and district residents and businesses to light up Innisfail with a bear theme. Information can be found on the chamber website (below).

An ongoing Christmas tradition with the chamber has been Santa's Sleigh, now in its 12th year. As Innisfail citizens shop around town during the Christmas season, participating merchants will stamp the cards once for every $10 purchase. Completed cards can be entered into the store's draw box, and winners will be drawn Dec. 20. A grand prize of an $800 shopping spree will be drawn for, as well as prizes of $450 and $250.

“We want to show the people of Innisfail and district what your chamber of commerce can do for you,” said Diane Mineault, the chamber's executive director. “It is part of our mandate to support our members, and to encourage business growth.”

The first annual Christmas luncheon will be held Dec. 20 at the legion from 11:30 a.m. to about 2:00 p.m. Cost for the luncheon is two tiered: $20 with a teddy bear to be donated to community children and Victim Services, $22 without a bear donation.

“The Christmas luncheon will serve a number of purposes,” Mineault added. “We will be announcing winners of the Very Beary Country Christmas/Christmas Light Up promotion, and we will be making the grand prize draw for Santa's Sleigh. There will also be a silent auction to support chamber activities. We are hoping that local chamber and community members will support this event; it is a great opportunity to network.”

The chamber is putting together a Christmas event calendar which will be accessible from the chamber website. Interested groups can submit events to Shalylee Manage at [email protected].

Information on Santa's Sleigh and the Christmas luncheon can be obtained from the chamber of commerce office at 403-227-1177, via email at [email protected], or the website at http://www.innisfailchamber.ca/ Tickets can be purchased for the luncheon before December 13.
