Town of Bowden council voted on Jan. 9 to enter into a sale agreement with Shu-Pak Equipment Inc. for the purchase of a new side-load garbage truck.

The new garbage truck will cost $189,000 and will be delivered within six weeks.

The town's previous garbage truck had been deemed not drivable due to a worn-out transmission at a previous council meeting on Aug. 8.

"We are very excited about the new garbage truck," said Andy Weiss, town of Bowden CAO.

"This company is the manufacturer that made our former garbage truck, which we took out of service earlier this year."

Until the town gets the new truck, Bowden will continue renting a truck from Mountain View Regional Waste Management.

"On a personal note, I am just really thankful that the commission was allowing us to do this," said Weiss.

"Without their help, we would have been in significant trouble."
