CARSTAIRS - Hugh Sutherland School was the host for the recent Night of the Arts, a special event showcasing the school's arts programs.

The event was the first Night of the Arts and took the place of the annual Renaissance Feast, which did not take place this year.

Cosmetology teacher Brian Petersen said the event went well and was well attended.

"A Night of the Arts is a celebration and showcase of the diverse arts programming we offer at Hugh Sutherland School, and the immense talent of the student body," said Petersen. "The night combined performing arts (vocal and instrumental music, drama) and the visual arts to create a night to highlight the ongoing work of students in these disciplines."

There were approximately 90 students involved, said Petersen. Classes involved were Choir and Grade 9 band, Grade 10-12 Art, Grade 10-11 Cosmetology and Grades 7-12 Drama Club.

Petersen said about 80 members of the community came out to support the event.
