Can Olds residents read for 250,000 minutes?
As part of the TD Summer Reading Club, Olds Municipal Library has issued a challenge to local residents to Seize the Summer and read a collective 250,000 minutes before the end of August.
Last year, the community reported reading more than 195,000 minutes over the summer. Local residents can sign up for the reading challenge at oml.beanstack.org.
This is the first year Olds Municipal Library has offered an online option for the reading program.
Beanstack’s founders appeared on Shark Tank in 2013 looking for an investment for their company Zoobean. They were successful in teaming up with investor Mark Cuban.
Olds Municipal Library is the second library in Canada to offer the website version of Beanstacks’ reading program. Calgary Public Library claimed the spot as the first Canadian client.
“Summer is a great time to pick up a book and do some leisure reading. Whether you’re travelling with the kids or out for the day at the park, it’s never been easier to report your reading and get instant feedback,” says Tammy Nischuk, marketing coordinator for the library.
“Beanstack allows you to log on via the internet, earn digital badges, complete challenges and enter to win, even if you’re out of town.”
The library has been fortunate enough, once again, to have substantial support from the local community for the TD Summer Reading Club. Thanks to the business community’s generosity there are 12 baskets to be awarded to eager readers who log their reading with the library.
Reading is for everyone at Olds Municipal Library. Will Olds reach the 250,000 minutes before summer’s end? In the first 10 days of the program, 12,000 minutes of reading have already been reported online. Help Olds Municipal Library reach its goal for the community and join the fun at oml.beanstack.org.
