CARSTAIRS - Young Harry Potter fans were in for a treat over the holidays as the Carstairs Public Library was turned into Hogwarts School for an escape room. The escape room proved a fun challenge for young wizards and their families.

An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand.

"Harry Potter has always been popular so we decided to make an escape room with a Harry Potter theme," said Chantelle Carr, library programmer. "Our goal was to have an activity for families to participate in together and we felt it succeeded."

In all, 17 groups went through the escape room with an average of three to five people in each group, said Carr.

"The groups took an average of 30 minutes to one hour to unlock the room," she said. "All the questions were based on Harry Potter knowledge."

Carr said the feedback they received was all positive and the library hopes to have more escape rooms in the future.

"Thanks to all those groups who participated," said Carr.
