Artistic field trip

student artists
Art students from Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs dropped by the Sundre Pioneer Museum’s World of Wildlife exhibit on March 21 to sketch animals they might otherwise never get a chance to observe up close and personal. “This is an exciting way of marketing our exhibit to those communities or groups that may not be avid hunters — big game or otherwise,” said Jaime Marr, the museum’s executive director. The students also took the opportunity to take a tour of the village and pioneer gallery. “We even had a couple kids sit and play a tune on the old piano — they were a joy to have and I was thrilled to see the museum utilized in this unique and creative way,” said Marr, encouraging any organization or school that might be interested in pursuing a similar field trip to contact the museum.
