Mountainview Colts split road games over weekend

Didsbury-based Heritage Junior B Hockey League team is in Airdrie on Friday and in Medicine Hat on Saturday

DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts split road games over the weekend, falling to High River on Friday and coming back with a big win Saturday against Ponoka.

The Colts have a 4-2-1 record so far in the 2023-24 Heritage Junior B Hockey League season. The Didsbury-based team plays in the north division.

The Colts played the High River Brewing Co. Flyers in High River Saturday, getting goals from Treydon Brien (assists Harley Smith and Wyatt Bailey) and from Corbin Rae (unassisted) in a 4-2 loss.

Colts netminder Kyle Allan stopped 30 of 34 shots in the game.

On Saturday, the Colts travelled to Ponoka to take on the Stampeders at the Ponoka Culture and Recreation Complex. The Colts won 10-1.

They got goals from Bailey (assists Cohen Richardson and Aidan Saunders), Paton Rothenbusch (assist Trenton Hirsch), Steven Bell (assists Rothenbusch and Haiden Parks), Saunders (assists Richardson and Bailey), Parks (assist Bell and Rothenbusch), Kai Biggen (assist Bailey), and Biggen again (assists Hirsche and Smith).

In the third the Colts added goals from Richardson (assist Bailey and Saunders), Parks (assists Rothenbusch and Bell) and Richardson (assist Jay Heistad).

Parks currently leads the Colts with 13 points, one ahead of Bell.

Colts net minder Jordan McGinnis got the win, stopping 23 of 24 shots.

The Colts are in Airdrie on Friday and in Medicine Hat on Saturday. They are back at the Memorial Complex on Oct. 27 against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
