DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts are back home Memorial Complex for a matchup against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Friday, Oct. 27 followed by a road game in Three Hills Saturday.

The Colts dropped their last two road games, falling to Airdrie and Medicine Hat.

Last Friday, the Colts got goals from Wyatt Bailey (assists Cohen Richardson and Mitchell McDermid) and Haiden Parks (assists Steven Bell and Jay Heistad) in the 4-2 loss at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Colts netminder Jordan McGinnis stopped 27 of 31 shots.

Last Saturday, the Colts travelled to Medicine Hat to take on the Cubs at the Kinplex.

In that matchup the Colts got goals from Bailey (assists Paton Rothenbusch and Richardson), Kai Higgins (assists Zane Labbe and Rothenbusch), Richardson (assists Parks and Aidan Saunders) and Parks (assist Saunders) in the 6-4 loss.

Netminder McGinnis stopped 31 of 36 shots.

Colts coach Dan Visser said although the team went 1-3 during four recent road games, he sees a number of positives going forward.

“Our road play has been up and down,” said Visser. “We have some key players on defence that are injured, which creates a big hole in our lineup. I believe we are trending in the right direction.

“We are a young team with our roster full of rookies. I’m actually happy with all the rookies’ play as it takes time for them to adjust to the faster pace and more physical play.”

He said he is “looking for more consistency and not have those mental lapses that cost us at certain times in the game. Our starts have been slow, which we'll be looking to get cleaned up.”

“It will be nice to get back home and get in front of our great fans,” he added.

The Colts are 4-4-1 so far in the 2023-24 Heritage Junior B Hockey League season.
