DIDSBURY - A memorial gathering held to celebrate the life of Lila Rain Morrison, 14, who was killed in motor vehicle crash along with her boyfriend Reid Fisher, 16, on Dec. 27 attracted hundreds of friends and family to the Didsbury Zion Church on Saturday.

“People gathered together to share not only in grief but in the joy she brought into all of the lives of the people that knew her,” Erin Brodeur, organizer of a GoFundMe page set up to help the Morrison family with funeral and other expenses, posted on the page.

“When you met Lila she just had a way with making people feel like she'd been your friend all your life even if you just met her a few minutes before. There were so many stories many of them describing the old romantic soul she was with such a passion for life. Others centred on that super nova amount of energy that she was.”

The memorial saw Lila’s brother play a beautiful piano solo that “touched the hearts of everyone there,” she said.

“Her mother Gwen said it best Lila is not gone, she's still with us its just different now. We can find her in the morning in stillness and the quiet before the chaos begins," she said.

Police were called to the intersection of Township Road 292 and Range Road 14 south of Carstairs shortly after 5 p.m. on Dec. 27, where Fisher and Morrison were found dead at the scene.

The crash remain remains under investigation, with police already saying alcohol was not a factor.

The GoFundMe page for Morrison had already raised more than $15,000 as of Monday afternoon.

The GoFundMe page for the Fisher family had raised more than $12,000 as of Monday afternoon.

A memorial service is planned for Fisher on Wednesday.
